ACCOUNTANTS AND AUDITORS' ASSOCIATION.

The New Zealand Accountants and Auditors' Association's fourth general council meeting is being held in Wellington to-day. The various centres are represented as follow : — Auckland, Messrs. H. Shaw (president.), T. B. Hc~ warth (vice-president), E. W. Evans, G. O'Halloran ; Canterbury, Messrs. F. H. Laball (vice-president), R. H. Modlin ; Otago, Mr. C. H. Stratham; Southland, Mr W. A. Oil; Wellington, Messrs. R. Wilberfoss (vice-president), T. Forsyth, J. C. Post, J. H. G. Rowley, and D. M'Kay. The business is being conducted in committee.

The union as a whole demand that the native should have all the rights, and accept all the responsibilities of the European, and in this opinion a very large section of the electors of the Dominion agree." On remand, Thomas Langley, a young man, was charged in the SS.M. Court to-day with having assaulted a little girl, under five years of age, at the I Lower Hutfc. After hearing the evidence Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., on the application of Sub-Inspector Norwood, allowed the charge to be reduced to one of common assault. Accu&ed pleaded not guilty. He gave evidence, and the case was adjourned until this evening, in order that ceitaiu, witnesses might bo subDoenafldi
