TASMANIAN POTATOES. BLIGHT NOT IN A VIRULENT FORM.
MR. KIRK'S RECOMMENDATIONS. By Tclearaph.— Press Association.— Copyright, (Received September 8, 10.20 a.m.) HOBART, This Day. Mr. T. W. Kirk, of the New Zealand Agricultural Department, has presented an interim report in regard to "the poiato blight in this State. He finds that the ■uiseaso is widespread, but, with two exceptions, not in the virulent or rotting stage Mr. Kirk recommends compulsory spraying, and prohibition of the use of second-hand bags for export, unless they are thoroughly fumigated. He suggests that a tax of two shillings an acre would provide funds for inspection by experts appointed by the State.
