PROFESSIONAL SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP.
Negotiations are in progress between a South African syndicate of backers and a syndicate of English sportsmen for a match on the Zambesi River between Arnst and Barry, representing New Zealand and England respectively, for the sculling championship of the world. The South Africans are backing the present holder, and the proposed stake is £500 a side, with travelling and maintenance expenses for each contestant.
