FORECAST. At, 9 a.m. the following forecast was issued for the subsequent 24 hours :- Winds.— Southerly winds, strong to gale, are probable generally. Barometer. — Rise everywhere, but probably falling in. the southernmost districts after 30 hours. Sea. — Heavy on the west coast of the North Island ; rough on all eastern coast, increasing on the webt coast of the South Island, and moderate elsewhere. Tides.— Good on the east coast south of East Cape; increasing on all western coast, and moderate, all other portf>. Rain is probable generally and snow on high country with cold night everywhere.
