Weather.— iJ, blue thy, be tbo atmosphere clear or heavy; U, clouds, passing cloudh; D, drizzling rain; F, loggy; U, gloomy, dark weather; H, hail; L, lightning; ii, misty; O, overcast, the wiiole sky covered with thick clouds; P, passing showers; Q, squally, B, rain, continued ram; S, snow; T, thunder; U, ugly, threatening appearance. FORECAST. At, 9 a.m. the following forecast was issued for the subsequent 24 hours :- Winds.— Southerly winds, strong to gale, are probable generally. Barometer. — Rise everywhere, but probably falling in. the southernmost districts after 30 hours. Sea. — Heavy on the west coast of the North Island ; rough on all eastern coast, increasing on the webt coast of the South Island, and moderate elsewhere. Tides.— Good on the east coast south of East Cape; increasing on all western coast, and moderate, all other portf>. Rain is probable generally and snow on high country with cold night everywhere. Warning signal for- southerly gale is exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen, Tiritiri, and East Cape, Capes Campbell and Farewell Spit, Nugget Point, and Centre Island. D. C. BATES.
