Ah interesting experiment was made in Karangahape-road, Auckland. In order to ascertain the power of observation of paboers-by a gentleman placed a sixpence in the middle of tho footpath in a busy part of Karangahape-road, and no less that 495 persons passed over and nsar it before it was picked up. Among the passers-by were three policemen, a detective, two telegraph bos's, and » postman. The coin was moved Same 4rt along tho path with the 'eet of the walkers, and ultimately was picked up by a bright little urchin of some eight years old, who no doubt hied himself off to ths nearest lollie ihop to spend it.
