LODGE MEETINGS.

The weekly session of the Pioneer Lodge of Good Templars was held in the liechabite Hall, Manners-street, on Monday evening. Bro. W. Smith, P.C.T., presided, in the absence of Bro. Coulter, C.T. It is proposed to pay an official visit to the Coronation ljodge, Newtown, on Tuesday .evening next. Mr. Alex. Downie, who died at Chertsey this week, was well known amongst cyclists in Christchurch, Timaru, Temuka, Ashburton, and the surrounding districts. He competed in the Dunlop road race, Timaru to Christchurch, in 1906, and won a Dunlop gold modal for completing the distance under seven Hours, hit tinre being 6 hours 15 minutes 25 seconds.
