MILITARY SECRETS. FRENCH MACHINE GUN STOLEN. BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN SOLD TO
GERMANY. FIVE PERSONS ARRESTED. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright, (Received September 7, 8.15 a.m.) PARIS, 6th' September. In consequence of the theft of a machine gun from the French military headquarters at Chalons 1 General. Brno circularised the commanders of army corps, with a view to the stricter guarding of material of war. The public are convinced that the gun is now in Germany's hands. The newspapers state that the corporal who stole the gun has reached Metz. Five persons, suspected of complicity in tho theft, have been arrested at Chalons. It was reported a few days ago that it was the plans of a machine gun that had been stolen, not the gun itself. The affair was considered grave, as the gun was of the latest pattern, and its construction was a secret. The authorities were said to be making a great effort to capture the corporal before he was able to communicate the secret to a foreign Power.
