ENTERTAINMENTS "JACK AND JILL."

It is a marvellous structure that tho writer of the pantomime now being performed nightly at the Opera House has built about, the meagre framework of the Jack and Jill. of the nursery rhyme. There are a score of gorgeous scenes and lively incidents undreamt of in our childhood's days. As a masterpiece of stage-craft and scenic art there has never been anything better at the Opera House than "Jack and Jill." Not that it depends wholly on its spectacular brilliancies. With Messrs. Campbell, Leslie, Loydall, and Cook to work the latent veins of humour there is ample supply of fun to give the audiences that fil.' the Opera House the needed change of emotions. Song and dance are there, too, with Miss Betty Ohls as Jill, Miss Nance Maher as the Fairy, and the well-trained clever ballet. Among the chief attractions " of a feast of colour, harmony, and movement aro the chorus of the gleaners in the Baron's cornfield, the quaint "Shoe Villa" of the Widow Cobble, the exquisite change of the seasons tableaux, and, greatest of all, the Palace of Precious Stones at the end. In humour the best thing is the burlesque of afternoon tea at home with Messrs. Campbell and Leslie as the actors. It Is one of the neatest bits of comedy seen here for some time. Jack and Jill continue their career at the Opera House again thiß evening.
