Tin. — Spot, £137 17s 6d per ton; three months, £138 17s 6d. • Lead, £12 15s per ton. Shares.— Waihi, buyers £9 11s 3d; sellers £9 13s 9d; Junction, buyers 48s 9d, sellers 41s 3d (?51s 3d). LONDON MARKETS. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, 4th September, 1909: — There has been a better tono in the mutton market this week, and 'prices have slightly advanced for all grades. It is generally believed, however, that prices will not advance materially until reduction, has been made of stocks of lamb. Canterbury- mutton is quoted at 2gd~per lb and North Island at 2gd per lb. Thevo has been no alteration in the lamb market since last week. There is a better demand for heavy-weights. No change in prices. Canterbury is quoted at 3|d and North Island at 2!d. The beef market is quiet, and there is a good supply on hand. New Zealand hinds car quoted at 3id per lb and fores at 2|d per lb. The butter market remains firm," and jjood dualities are in better demand. Thelonic shipment has been put in store. The average price for the week for choicest New Zealand butter per cwt. is 114s nominal, Danish 117s, Siberian 103s. Tho cheese market is, slightly weaker, with lo^s demand.
