MOTOR CYCLE TEST.

CLIMBING AT HOUGHTON BA?, The Wellington members of the Newj Zealand Motor Cycle Club had a hillclimbing test at Houghton Bay to-day^ The start was from the bridge in Houghs ton Bay, Mr. C. D., Bridge, acting v honorary secretary, being' the starter., The distance was about a mile and a quarter climb all the way, and the road' fair to medium. The following started s W. A. Walters, 3£ hip., Brown; A. X., Hopkins, 2 h.p., Moto-Reve; W. J. Makin, 3£ h.p., Triumph; G. Rose, 3£ h.p., Quadrant; L. R. Matthews, 3i h.p., Triumph; T. Banks, 3£ h.p., Trit umph; L. R. Barber, 3£ h.p., Triumph. Each competitor was got away in good time, and finished near Scandres Collis, Mi\ F. E. Bowden taking the finish, and Mr. E. Daniels and Mr. F. J. M'Donald. taking the times at about middle distance. G. Rose withdrew from the jace., All the others finished. There were trophies for the light weights and heavy, weights, and a trophy given by the club! .for the fastest time made by the rider in either cAass. The results are as follow^: — W. Makin „.. 1 R. Matthews ■ „.. • ... 4 Makin won the trophy for the heavy-» weight test, and also the trophy for tha fastest time, viz., 2min 42sec. 1 He rode a 3i horse-power "Triumph." Trophies for the heavy and light-weight classes were presented by Adams, Ltd., and the Cycle and Motor Supply Company.,
