EASTBOURNE DRAMATIC SOCIETY.

On Saturday evening the Eastbourne Dramatic Society opened the new stage of the Pavilion, Day's Bay, with the performance of the two farces, " Freezing a Mother-in-Law " and " Ici en Parle Francais." The preparation of the scenery and accessories was admirably carried out by Mr. E. B. Shortt. The hall was well filled by a very appreciative audience. In '" Freezing a JViother-in-Law," the parts were taken as follow:—Mr. Watmuff, Mr. P. St. JohnKeenan ; Mrs. Whatmuff, Mrs. E. Carte ; Ferdinand Swift, Mr. Millier; Emily, Miss M. Carte ; and Mr. Percy Wright took the part of the juvenile lead. Floral presentations were, received by Mr. and Mrs. Whatmuff. In "Ici On Parle Francais," Mr. Cyril Girdlestone played the part of Spriggins ; Mrs. E. Dodd, Mrs. Spriggins ; Mr. B. F. Kelly, Victor Subois; Mr. Dixon, Major Regulus Ratten ; Miss Myra Smith, Julia ; Miss Edith Philps, Angelina Spriggins; and Miss Fleming, Anna Maria. Mr. P. St. John Keenan performed the duties of stage manager, and Mrs. Aileen Simpson supplied the music. After tho performance an enjoyable supper was served on the stage, when Mr. A. L. Herdman, president of the society, congratulated Mr. Keenan on the remarkable success of the performances, and Mr. Zohrab upon the excellent stage he had placed at the society's disposal. It is understood that Pinero's three-act play,- "The Magistrate," will be the next production staged by the society.
