SCHOOL COMMITTEES AND EDUCATION BOARDS. [BY TELEGRAPH — SPECIAL TO THE POST.] PALMERSTON N., This Day. The College-street School Committee is at variance with the Wanganui Education Board over the method of appointing teachers. Recently there was a vacancy on the staff, and the board, without consulting the committee, appointed a certain teacher. It is held that the committee should have some voice in the matter. " Apparently," remarked the chairman, in discussing the matter, "the school committee's functions now arc to raise money to improve the ground and administer the grant (or cleaning out the buildings." A further protest is to bo mode against the board's action.
