A passenger by the Waratah, interviewed, at Capetown, stated that he booked through by the vessel, but left her at Durban, not liking the way she behaved on the voyage from Australia. When she rolled and pitched, he said> it was in a " dead " fashion, and she took a long time to 'recover herself. The Waratah had a tremendous lot of top hamper. He had tried to induce others to leave the ship at Durban. ANOTHER VERSION. SAID TO BE A GOOD SEA BOAT. (Rec. September 4, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Another of the Waratah passengers who landed at Durban scouted the idea that the steamer had too much top hamper. He declared that tho vessel behaved splendidly in bad weather. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SPECIAL SEARCH. ESTIMATED COST. MELBOURNE, 3rd September. Negotiations are almost completed for the despatch of a special steamer to search for the Waratah. The cost i& estimated at' about £6000 for a three months' cruise, and this expense will be borne in equal shares by the Federal Government, the owners, underwriters, and public subscriptions.
