At 0 a.m. the following forecast was Issued for the subsequent 24 hours :- Winds.— Easterly winds, strong to gale, are probable northward ot East Cape, Taupo, and Kawhia, and moderate to strong easterly winds thence to Hokitika and Cape Campbell; northerly winds elsewhere. Barometer.— Fall northward of East Cape and Kawhia, and elsewhere after 24 hours. Sea. — Inci easing northward of East Cape, and moderate elsewhere. Tides.— High northward of East Cape, and moderate all other ports. Rain will probably be heavy northward of New Plymouth, Taupo, and Kawhia, and changeable weather elsewhere. ' Warning signal for easterly gale is exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen and Tiritiri, and after sunrise at Cast Cape. Note. — A storm area appears to be approaching from the northward, and especially threatening the North Island. Another approaching from the westwaid, particularly affecting the South Island, appears to be following, and is due about Tuesday next, so that unsettled weather is likelj to continue for some days.
