The fact that a large reef like that just pass-ed through should come in. at J\o. 5 level, without showing some indication of its existence at No. 4 level, was extremely improbable, though, of course, possible. The strildng of the Royal lode at this level in the south crosscut is now being looked forward to, and in conjunction with the Martha and Empire lodes, should provide ample working material for a considerable time to come. WAIOTAHI. The return from the Waiotahi mm« for the past month was £904 13s. For this result 130 tons of ore were treated, and 331b of picked stone. This brings the total output up to £671,461 9s lid, out of which £400,800 has been paid in dividends. TAIRUA BROKEN HILLS. The directors of the Tairua Broken Hills G.M. Company have authorised the ■ mine manager, Mr. W. Goldsworthy, to i make certain repairs to the mining, j machinery, and plant, so as to enable him to open up further ore bodies, which, he stated, assays proved to carry payable values. Mr. Goldsworthy reported that the battery is now running 16 hours per day, and said he believed he. -would be now able to keep it going continuously. KURANUI COMPANY. The ordinary general meeting of shareholders in the Kuranui was held on Tuesday.
