OCCUPATION.
The Executive Council of the British and Foreign Blind Association in their annual statement report a year of excellent progress. The present premises at 206, Great Portland-street, W., state the .executive, are very inadequate, and it has been de. cided to provide as speedily as possible new and more commodious buildings. A rebuilding fund has been started, and has already £9003 to its credit. As the total cost of the new 'buildings will be approximately £20,000 the council make an earnest appeal to all friends of the blind to co-operate with them in raising the necessary funds. The report contains the following reference to the Daily Mail Edition for the Blind : "The stereotyping and embossing of this weekly newspaper was continued throughout the year to the general satisfaction of the proprietors and subscribers, and has provided a considerable amount of additional work for the j blind." The list given in the report of the books which- have been produced in Braille during the year contains such varied works as "The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire" and "The Passing of the Third Floor Back." During the year 2300 copies of new publications were embossed, besides magazines, newspapers, etc., and 6120 volumes and 8110 small pieces already in the catalogue. A number of blind copyists are constantly employed at their own homes m making transcriptions of M-oi'ks already copied into Braille by a lartre number of voluntaiy writers.
