CORPORATION ENDOWMENTS.

— «■ RIVER ENCROACHMENTS AT MANGAHAO. Information has reached Wellington that the Maungatainoka River has been breaking bounds at Pahiatua, to the detriment of the Wellington Corporation's land endowment at Mangahao, in that vicinity. A little while ago the City Council authorised the carrying out of certain protective works and remedial measures for the endowment lands, but the Jatest encroachments of the river and the possible future results of them, are likely to necessitate much moro extensive precautions than those originally contemplated. It is likely that the council will procure immediately a special report on the matter.
