After a lengthy discussion, the committee ro&e until 11 o'clock to-morrow morning, when the matter is to be discussed further, and a final decision may be come to. Mr. Fergnson was prosent during a portion of to-day's proceedings of the committee. The terms of his letter to the council are not available for publication to-day. The proceedings today are suid to have moved the matter nearer to the noint of settlement than the} wero ihis morning.
