A telegram received by the Exchange to-day from the Talisman Consolidated stated that a quarterly dividend of Is 6d, with a bonus of Is per share, ha,d "been declared, to be payable on 25th August. The transfer books would be closed one day, 11th August. The four pedigree rams which arrived from Sydney by the Moana yesterday consigned to Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., were purchased in Sydney recently for a client of that firm who resides in Patagonia. The animals will be sent to Monte Video by the Turakina, leaving Wellington next Thursday, 29th inst. At the afternoon ceremony of treeplantine; afc Brooklyn yesterday, the Mayor (Dr. Newman) remarked that he had 3iiove than fulfilled his eleotion pledge to spend £300 or arboriculture. About £500 had been spent to date. He felt sure the expenditure was justified. Brooklyn benefited to the extent of 440 trees by the Arbor Day operations. The Seddonville State coalmine is now paying, states the Minister of Mines. An excellent quality of coal is being produced, the inspecting engineer (Mr. Reed) reports that there is a good supply in sight, and the condition of the mine appears to be very satisfactory. Afc Point Elizabeth mine three miles of railway, to cost £75,000, are being constructed, and a second mine is being opened up, so that the supply can be doubled.
