OPERATIONS AT BROOKLYN.

Under the direction of Councillor Frost, the northern side of the Sugar Lba-f at Brooklyn was planted, with some hundreds of trees and shrubs. There were present — Mr. Vy right, MJP., Mr. O'Connor (secretary of the local Municipal Association), and the teachers and children of the Te Aro and Brooklyn Schools to the number of about two hundred. After suitable addresses from Councillor Frost and Mr. Wright, the children, with, great enthusiasm, set to work under the supervision of thenrespective headmasters, Messrs. WaL&on and 'Hopkirk. For some time the side of the lull presented not N only a busy picture, but an exceedingly interesting and pretty one. Cheers were hearri'y criven by tho children for the City Council the member of Parliament for the district, Councillor Frost, who had so ably directed affairs, and to the visitors generally. This afternoon there was a little ceremony of tree-planting at Brooklyn. A number of residents assembled at" the Triangle and were there addressed by Councillor Frost, Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P., and the ilev. A. Dewcbiey, who delivered speeches appropriate to tho occasion. Ihe showery weather prevented the attendance from being larger, but the ceiemony of planting trees was carried out smoothly and without a hitch. The Mayor (Dr. A. R. Newman) was an interested spectator, and added a few remarku io tnoso ot theprevious speakers.
