EIGHT HOURS ACT.

ITS WORKING IN THE WELSH MINES. SERIOUS REDUCTION IN OUTPUT. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. LONDON, 20th July. The Daily 'Mail publishes a " report dealing with the result of the first fortnight's working in the South Wales coal trade under the Eight Hours Act. This, it is stated, has astounded many. The reduction in output is 13.18 per cent., and the actual loss in South •Wales alone amounts to 700,000 tons. • The miners are inclined to support the general strike asked for by the iScotti&h colliers, on the ground that it -would clear the air, and they would then at a later date ask for similar support for themselves. The recent peace in 'South Wales, the men allege, was only a patched-up affair.
