AT BROKEN HILL. MAYOR'S ILL-JUDGED ACTION. ORDER REVERSED, AND WORK RESUMED. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. (Received July 13, 10.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, -This Day. A municipal strike occurred at Broken Hill through the action of the Mayor in displacing eight single men to make way for a similar number of unemployed married men. The Municipal Employees' Association ordered a strike, with the result that all the civic services, including the electric lighting, were suspended. The Mayor then reversed his action, and work was resumed. The Mayor, Alderman Long,* was a strong, sympathiser with the miners during the recent troubles at Broken Hill.
