MASSACRE BY TRIBESMEN. FIVE THOUSAND PERSONS KILLED. By Telegraph.— Press Association. — Copjrigllt. LONDON, 14th June. The St. Petersburg newspaper Novoe • Vremya reports that Shakhsevan tribesmen are ravaging the Ardabil district, in the Azerbaijan province, ninety miles north-east of Tabriz, Persia. Already, it is stated, 5000 persons have been killed, and the Russian Consulate tit Ardabil, a strongly-fortified town, is crowded with refugees. At Salinas an altercation between the Turkish Consul and some Persian gendarmerie led to a fight, in whichseven Turkish soldiers were killed and tv/enty captured, and twelve Persians killed.

A party of delegates to the Imperial Press Conference, numbering one hundred, visited Coventry. The city waa decorated for the occasion, and the'thoroughfares were crowded. Tlie delegates inspected the Daimler works, and thence motored to Warwick, where the they were entertained at luncheon in the Castle. Afterwards, in brilliant weather, tbe/ party motored to Stratford-on-Avon, where they viewed the Shakespeare me- „ morials, and then went on to Bambury and Oxford. New Daimler cars, with Knight silent • engines, were used on the journey.
