WEDNESDAY POPS.
To-morrow evening the third of Mia series of Wednesday popular concerts will be given in the Town Hall, under the direction of the Wellington Professional Orchestra, when an attractive programme will be presented. Mrs. ,OrrLoring will sing .Bishop's popular "Lo, Here the Gentle Lark," with flute obligato by Mr. T. K. Thompson. Mia: Baker, contralto, will sing "The Enchantress." by Hutton, and Mr. Baines, baritone, will also contribute well-known songs. Miss'Estelle Beere will present three dances, in which her pupils will give an interesting and graceful perform- , ance, Misses Greville, K. Speed, Onia Haybittle, and Maisieand Peggie Reeves taking part. The children's singing contest will be continued, and the committee will give a prize of £1 to the person, who purchases the sCoth shilling ticket at the doors. As a large number of patrons were turned a\yjy from the last concert, through lack ofaccommodation, the management advises that seate should be booked at the Dresden, where the plan may be seen. Last evening the members of the Trinity Mutual Improvement Society were entertained by the Taranaki-streefc Society. Songs were sung by Misses Kinnibeig, Mueller, and M. Burley ; recitations' were given by Misses Luke, Hart, and Dix and Messrs. Burgess ancj Gumming ; and a comedietta was performed by the Misses D;x. The third annual social of the local Cooks and Waiters' Union will be held 1 in the Druid's Hall to-morrow night. The committee in charge of the arrange nients reports that no effort has been spared to provide for the full entertainment of patrons. The fortnightly meeting of the Syd-ney-street * and Northland Primitive Methodist Mutual Improvement Society,, was held in the Sydney-street Schoolroom last evening. There was a very, good attendance of members. The president, the Rev. C. E. Ward, presided, and during the evening Mir. Beeson delivered a very interesting lecturette on his trip through Russia in 1904, shortly after the commencement of the RlissianJapauese War. A discussion took place afterwards, and a hearty vote of thanks ' was accorded Mr. Beeson for his lecture. The next meeting will be a Parliamentary Election for the lady members, fon which several nominations were received last evening.
