VIOLENT GALE. NUMBER OF HOUSES UNROOFED
ROUGH TIME IN SYDNEY HARBOUR. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright , (Received June 14, 10.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The wind yesterday increased to a gale and attained a velocity of eighty miles an hour. A number of houses were unroofed, and other damage was done. The shipping in the harbour had a rough time. Several small craft were' driven ashore. TWO VESSELS WRECKED. (Received June 14, 10.15 a.m.) HOJMRT, This Day. The ketch Priseifia and the river; steamer Seabird have been wrecked during a heavy storm in Advantage Bay. The crews were saved. A hundred thousand feet of timber* stacked on the wharf were washed away. PROSPECT OF WANGANUI RIVER RISINGtBT TELEGBAPH — JBEBS ASSOOMJTIOKj WANGANUI, This Day. Heavy rain set in at Wangaani early this morning, and continues, and there is a prospect of the river rising. RAIN AND GALE AT NELSON. DAMAGE DONE. [BT TELEGRAPH— PKESS ASSOCIATION.] NELSON, This Day. Torrential rain, with a heavy gale,, prevailed last night. Glass houses wereblown down and windows broken. Three large pine trees opposite the Post Office were torn out of the ground, and are now blocking Trafalgar-street. The harbour bell buoy broke away from its moorings, and was stranded on the Tahuna sands. It is still raining at intervals.
