GRAND JUNCTION.
WAIHi, 18th May. Developments at the bottom (No. 5) level of the Waihi Grand Junction mine are assuming an important character. The Empire lode, one of the Waihi mine's valuable reefs, has been driven, across for a distance of 20ft with no sign of the other wall, and drilling operations have just shown that they are entering into richer ere. The ore so far broken out, though not high grade, is being sent to the mill. (B* Telegraph.— Special to The Post.J WAIHI, This Day. The manager of the Grand Junction Goldmining Company, when seen yesterday afternoon, informed me that the south-east cross-cut at No. 5 level' has been advanced about 24ft through the Empire reef, with white quartz or lowgrade still showing in the face. Allowing for the angle — that which the lode crosses in the drive— this means that it has been penetrated for about 21ft frora the point of intersection.
