MINERS RESIST REDUCTION OF PAY. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. LONDON, 11th May. The Scottish Miners' Federation has refused to accept a reduction of 12^- per cent, in wages. Delegates representing the coalmasters and the men met afterwards and discussed the matters in dispute, but failed to arrive at an agreement, and further consideration was adjourned until the 22nd inst. Eight thousand men are affected. The South Wales coalmasters propose to make a reduction of 7£ per cent, in wages, but the men have declined to accept this, and have referred the matter to Lord Si. Aldwyn, chairman of the Conciliation Board.
