AN ACTRESS'S MISSION.
m ' ' Miss - Ada Ward, the well-known actress, who has abandoned the stage for Christian mission work, gave an earnest address at the Vivian-street Salvation Army Citadel last evening. There was a large attendance, and StaffCaptain Orams presided, Colonel Knight (Commander-in-Chief of the North Island) and other officers of the Army being also present. Miss Ward seemed to make an impression on her hearers. She does not wear the uniform of the Army lassie, and she does not utilise the oratorical methods adopted by prominent speakers in the Army. Nevertheless, she showed herself last evening to be a most impressive speaker, one well calculated to make the unthinking reflect. She dealt with the Seven Last Words uttered by Jesus Christ on Calvary, and outlined in simple but impressive words the story of the Crucifixion and its bearing on the spiritual regeneration of mankind.
