It is reported that trouble has occurred in the Chinese province of Yunnan, through which flow the upper waters of the Saliwin— a river that rises; in south-eastern Tibet and runs through Burmah into the Gulf of Martaban. Natives opposed the advance of an , exploring party led by Herr Brunhuber Schmitz, which was bound for Tibet, and murdered Herr Schmitz.
