The Union Company's steamer Wanaka, bound for this port, is now nine days out from New Zealand. WARRIMOO, FROM MELBOURNE. On her voyage from Hobart to the Bluff, the Warnmoo met with a heavy head swell, but fine weather and smooth seas prevailed on the coast. Imports by the vessel comprise the following :— 57 ingots tin, 45 nieces biuebtouu 100 bags Hour, 300 bags rice, 280 casks sugar, 02 bundles steel, 100 chests tea, 17 barrels oil, 10 cases oil, 73 cases dried frmts, 52 bags onions, 735 bags foaik, 249 cases grape 3, 400 saekb oats, 104 casks pain, 147 sacks oatmeal, SOS sacks oysters, 257 caseb milk, transhipments ex Loongana, Zeihen, Bullarde and Casiuo; also a large quantity of general cargo. The Warrimoo is timed to leave for Sydney direct at 5 o'clock this afternoon. ROTOMAHANA RESUMES. Though a comparatively old vessel, the Kotomahana lias by no means passed the days of her usefulness. She is still a "greyhound" even m comparison with some newer passenger vessels. The Melbourne Argus, commenting on her recomnijbsion this month, remarks that whilst the turbine steamer Loongana experiences no diiliculty in carrying on the Melbourne to Launciestoii trade single-handed during summer, the short days and frequent fogs of winter will mean too severe a tax upon the Union line "flier" if she continues the work unassisted. It invariably happens, therefore, that a second steamer is employed to help the Loougana in conducting the service, which is not in the least degree curtailed throughqbt winter. Last year the Rotomahana was selected to co-operate with the Loongana, and this, whiter the services of the same vessel ■will be requisitioned. For some months past the Rotomaluna had been lying out of commission in^Hobson's Bay. Receutlv however, she was removed up the river* to be got in readiness for her impending duties, which begin on Saturday next, when she makes her first trip to Launceston. Next Friday n.M.S. Challenger will rebunker with about 500 tons of screened Westport coal preparatory to leaving for Naoier, Gisborue, and Auckland. It appears that Mr. J. Thompson's appointment as purser of the Maori was temporary. To-day lit; changed places with Mr. A. Murdoch, of the Te Anau. On Wednesday morning the Anchor Company's new steamer Waimea passed Wilson's Promontory (Victoria) en route from the Clyde to Nelson. She should reach her destination by Monday.
