KILLED ON THE RAILWAY.

[BT TIWGBAPH.-— PBkflS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON N., 6th May. William Auchinachie, an old and respected resident of Pahnerston, was killed by the mail train this afternoon. Deceased, who was 60 years old, and crippled with rheumatism, was crossing the line as the train approached, but absent-mindedly took no notice of the whistle. Death resulted almost immediately. Mr. Auchinachie was a' native of Scotland, and lived some years in Kaikoura and Rangiora. Patrick Coe, a storekeeper, of Koputarua, was killed by the a^bernoon train from Wellington yesterday. Ho fell jvslaop on tha line on his way home from Shannon, and the train ran ever him.
