IMPERIAL PRESS CONFERENCE.
TO THB EDITO.I. Sir, — Among tho newspapers which arrived from overseas by the last mail containing details of the Imperial Press Conference, I found suggestions of a rumour in one or two papers that the editors and proprietors of the great papers of the Empire were being called together for party political purposes. I do not think that we need explain to the large majority of our colleagues in Greater Britain that such a suggestion has not the slightest foundation in fact; in any case such a rumour is at once disproved by the- names of those who form the committee, and who represent every phase of party politics in this country. ' Our object in inviting our colleagues from the many parts of the Empire was stated in the original invitation sent out many months ago, which concluded : — "We feel that we have much to learn from our colleagues of the great sister notions, and wo alsb believe that during their stay hero we may be able to show them some aspects of Britain both at work and at play, which will greatly interest them. We further feel tbat whilst learning to know one another better, we shall make some small return for that thorough hospitality which so many of us have enjoyed on our journey through Greater Britain." This is the only object of the committee to-day. — I am, etc., HARRY E. BRITTAIN, Hon. Secretary. Savoy Hotel, London,* 26th March.
