Prince Henry of Prussia, brother of the Emperor, wit k a fleet of ninety-four warships, includii lg eighteen battleships, six armoured, and. ten smaller cruisers, is carrying out ' naval manoeuvres off Heliogoland. wnit'h will extend over amonth. Heligoland is an island in the North Sea, about for'jiy-six miles north-we»t of the mouths of the Elbe and the Weser. It was acquired by the British from Denmark in 1807, and remained in possession of tl as country, when it was ceded' to Germ* lay, and attached to the province of Scl Near it the Danish fl<jet repulsed a combined attack of the Prussians and Austrians, on 9th May, :1864. Of late years the island has bee cme a fashionable watering place for 'German visitors.
