* NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL MEETING. [BY TELEGHAPH — rRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, 29th April. A meeting of the. New Zealand Cricket Council to-night considered matters m connection with the disqualification ot Southland cricketers consequent on the disqualification of the Southland Caledonian Society by the Sports Federation. The vice-president of the council (Mr. F. Wilding) ruled that, as associations affiliated to the council had not received notice twenty-one days prior to the annual meeting of the oroposa' to affiliate with the federation, the affiliating agreed upon at the annual meeting was illegal. He also, ruled that, under the constitution of council, there was no power ol disqualification, and the disqualifications imposed could not be recognised. The meeting unanimously agreed to these rulings, and it was resolved to notify the federation that the affiliation to the council wa*> illegal and to request the removel of the council's name from the list of bodies affiliated to the federation.
