ST. MARY'S, KARORI.
The churchwardens and vestry of St. Mary's Church) Karori, in their annual report, to be presented at the meeting of parishioners to-morrow night, states that they are glad to be able to again submit a satisfactory report on the affairs of the parish. In general offertories the increase has been £24 10s sd, in special offertories £21 16s lid, pew rent £4 12s 6d, rent of parochial hall £21 4s 9d, and all other items show a slightly upward tendency. The general revenue for the year was £415 14s 3d, which is the largest sum yet received by the vestry in one year. The balance due on the 31st March for pew rents and subscriptions amounts to £31 14s, ! which is slightly- in excess of the same items in last year's statement. These sums it is confidently anticipated will come in at an early date. The sum of £50 has been paid in reduction of the mortgage on the vicarage, and this account is in credit in the sum of £11 9s Id. A garden party was held at the grounds of , Mr. J. F. Mills, and resulted in an addition to the new church fund of £10. The annual flower show proved an even greater success than that of last year, the sum of £14 10s being handed to the vestry as a donation for general purposes. It was appropriated to the new church fund. Authority was given at the last anriual meeting of parishioners to the vestry to commence the new church. The large sum at the credit of the fund inspires the hope that at an early date arrangements may be made to begin 4/he building, the vestry, owing to the existing financial stringency, deems the present time inopportune for a commencement.
