Glorious weather prevails for the first day of the Manawatu Racing Club's autumn meeting, and the course is in excellent condition. The attendance is very satisfactory. Twenty-four bookmakers were licensed. Results :—: — Linton Hurdles, of 100 soys; one and three-quarter miles. — Corazon, 9.13, 1; Somali, 9.0, 2; Rangihaeta, 10.13, 3. Scratched — Kairoma, Rendrock, Finnesseur, Canadian, and Leolanter. Won by* a length; Scenery fell. Time, 3min 18 l-ssec. Karere Welter, of 100 soys; six furlongs. — Hermia, 10.9, 1 ; Ukraine, 8.3, 2 : Thetis, 7.13, 3. Scratched — Liquid Air, Belle Amie, Capkiin Bell. Hermia led all the way, and won by a length. Time, lmin 17 l-ssec. Fifth Manawatu Stakes, of 500 eovs; six furlongs. Mr. W. E. Bidwill's Provocation, by Birkenhead — Stepfeldt, 2yrs, 8.0 1 Mr. T. H. Lowry's Bobrikoff, 4yrs, 97 2 Mr. E. J. Watts's Maori King, 2yrs 7.11 ... 3 Also smarted : Elysian, Kilwinnmg, and Thistledown. Provocation got his head in front with a furlong gone, and, leading all the way, won by a length ; a length between second and third. Time, lmin 14 3-ssec. AVON-DALE J.C. MEETING. SECOND DAY. Results :—: — Nursery Handicap, of 70 soys; six furlongs. — Impulse, 6.9, 1; Het Volt, 7.7, 2; Hyperion, 8.5, 3. All started. Won easily. Time, lmin 16sec. Flying H andicap, of 80 soys ; four furlongs.— Lady Finch, 8.2, 1; Hikuai, 7.12, 2; M.ighty Atom, 7.6, 3. Won easily. Time. 49 3-ssec. All 'started. Maiden Handicap Hurdles, one mile and three-q uarters. — Carlisle, 9.0, 1 ; Eblis, 9.5, 2; Lady Ellen, 9.0, 3. Scratched : Mundaring. Won easily. Time, 3min 21sec.
