ANNUAL MEETING OF THE WELLINGTON CLUB. The annual meeting of the Wellington Golf Club was held in the Sydneystreet Schoolroom last evening. The press was not admitted. The report presented indicated that the revenue account shows a deficiency of £299 4s 4d, which includes depreciation written off plant, improvements, and furniture, amounting to £127 Is Bd. The report continues : In view of the fact that the clubhouse has only just been erected, the committee did not deem it necessary this year to write off any depreciation on buildings, but tbis.' was an item which must be- provided for in future. It is apparent (continued the report) from the result of the past year's working that the subscription must be increased, and resolutions will be submitted at the special general meeting to give effect thereto. All entrance fees received since the passing of the new rules have been placed on deposit pending a decision being arrived at as to their disposal. Under the present rules entrance fees must be devoted to capital expenditure, and are therefore available for the reduction of the debentures or mortgages, but cannot be applied to the upkeep of the links. At the beginning of the season the committee received the sum of £210 6s lid from the" original syndicate, being the balance qf the profit on the sale of sections facing the main road. Debentures for £200 were issued to the members of the syndicate in proportion to their guarantees, and the balance of £10 6s lid had been presented to the club for the purchase oi a trophy "to commemorate the syndicate's work in connection with the purchase of the links." During the year the work of improving the links has been pushed ahead, and there now only remains the formation of bunkers, construction of new tees, and further improvements to the greens, all of which should receive the early attention of the new committee. During the year 39 playing members and 16 nonplaying members were elected, and resignations were received from one play* ing member, two non-playing members, and two country members. The totai membership is now 222 playing members, 64 non-playing members, and 36 country members. The club is indebted to Sir Joseph Ward and the Misses Joseph for trophies whichv they have presented to the club to be competed for annually. The visit of Martin, the professional coach, was attended Avifch considerable success, inasmuch as his' time was fully occupied during the five weeks he attended the links, and the standard of play has been considerably raised as the result of his coaching. The new committee should take into consideration a repetition of the visit, unless funds can be provided for the permanent employment of a coach. The financial statement included among other liabilities £5660 by debentures and £7800 by mortgages. The bank overdraft was £142 6s 9d, and the accrued interest owing £148 10s. The assets included £9598 in freehold property, £639 19s in improvements, £2951 5s Id in buildings, £487 2s lOd in plant and .furniture, £240 in cash on deposit, £298 8s 4d as balance on revenue account, £39 13s 8d by sundry debtors, and £9 18s 6d in subscriptions due. The year's subscriptions amounted to £755 2s, the grazing £100, and the locker rents £33 5s — these three were the only items of income in the year. Wages paid amounted to £361 I 16s 7d, interest £386 15s sd, rates and taxes £74 13s 7d, etc. A sum of £127 Is 8d was set down for depreciation on plant, furniture, and improvements. t Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow : President, Sir Joseph Ward ; vice-presidents, Messrs.
