The Water Commission is completing a scheme for the irrigation, of 6000 square miles in the Wimmera district, at a cost of £180,000. The one drawback to the development of the Wimmera district has been the uncertain rainfall, and irrigation will become a prominent feature in the prosperity of the locality. Irrigation farming has been successful, large areas surrounded with irrigation channels having beeu planted with vines, oranges, lemons, apples, etc.
