WELLINGTON TECHNICAL BOARD.
The Wellington Technical Education Board met last evening. The following were present :— Mr. J. P. Luke, M.P. (chairman), and Messrs. D. M'Laren, M.P., J. G. W. Aitken, W. Allan, T. Ballinger, D. Robertson, and T. Carmichael. The balance-sheet for 1909 showed a credit balance of £634 10s, after a payment of £619 18s 6d had been made for salaries, etc. This compared more than favourably with last year at the same time, when there was a debit of £185 17s lOd. A discussion regarding the slight falling away in attendances at the classes took place. Mr. D. M'Laren suggested that the Industrial Association might consider whether employers could not let boys away during working hours to attend classes. The chairman thought an attempt to do something on the lines suggested by Mr. M'Laren should be made. Mr. W. T. Alack succeeds Mr. G. F. Adams as master plumbers' representative on the board, and Mr. P. T. Gallers, as representative of electrical workers^ in place of Mr. A. Snertinge. The following were also re-appointed :—: — Mr. David Robertson, Wellington Provincial Association ; Messrs. T. Ballinger, T. Carmichael, J. P. Luke, M.P., and D. M'Laren, M.P., Wellington City Council.
