TO BE HELD NEXT MONTH. £BT TBIJSGEAPH.— PBISB A66OOIATIOM.J AUCKLAND, This Day An important native gathering convened by To lieu Heu Tukino and tweve other leading chiefs will be opened at Takaanu on 10th April. It is 'expected that several thousand natives will be present. The object of the meeting is to urge upon the Maori people to combine throughout the Dominion to insist upon tho native race being placed on the same footing as Europeans m regard to laud, civil and electoral rights, with the reservation of fishing rights over certain lakes extended by tho Treaty of AVaitangi. His Excellency the Governor and Ministers of tho Crown have been invited to bo present.
