LICENSING COMMITTEE ELECTIONS.
[BY TELEGHiPH — PIIESS ASSOCIATION.] . THAMES, lOth March. The Moderate "ticket" was returned as the Licensing Committee. MARTON, 10th March. Manawatu licensing returns are just to hand as follow :—R. K. Simpson (supported by both parties) 711, B. P. Lethbridge (No-license nominee) 515, F. Purnell (Moderate) 512, A. C. Perry (No-license) 416, H. Sutcliffe (Moderate) 398, W. T. Bowater (No-license) 362, Hornblow (No-license) 359. The first five are elected. The Moderate party nominated three, who were elected, out of eleven candidates. The following are elected for Rangitikei : — Cole, Simpson, Howie, Beban, James. This represents a majority for the Moderate party. WHANGAREI, 10th March. The Marsden licensing district returns show that all temperance candidates are elected. Two small returns are to come, but this cannot alter the position. (By Telegbaph. — Special to The Post.] FEIL'DING, This Day. The No-license Party in Oroua did not put itself about to secure the return of its ticket, but the Trade bustled strenuously, and had its return. The result was in suspense up to the receipt of the Rangiwahia return. Rangiwahia is in the back-country, twenty-six miles away. The Trade ticket which was returned contained the names of the first five in this list, the second five being the No-license nominees : — Edmund Goodbehere 872, J. Bruce 819, W A L. Bailey 803, R. M'Beth 784, Woolveii 724, G. Bartholomew 714, Rev. G. Budd 679, J. Darrngh 641, H. Tolley 633, E. H. Crabb 558.
