SHOOTING AT TRENTHAM, CAPTAIN KING IN THE LEAD. (From Our Special Reporters). (By Pigeon Express.) TRENTHAM, Wednesday. To-day the closings stage of the championship struggle was reached — the Canterbury match, of ten. shots at 900 yards, and ten shots at 1000 yards. The 1000 yards' shooting ends about 1 p.m. on Thursday, when the final fifty to fire in tho King's Prize match will be known. Tho championship contest i© overshadowing all other interests, but a fair . amount of anticipation is indulged in regarding the five men teams match, under Kolapore cup conditions, and the service matches are also attracting some attention. Three more of these were fired to-day, and it is worthy of notice that in the cover mateh — a snapshot competition under awkward conditions at surprise targets — the rifle club teams proved equal to the volunteers. Following aro the deprizes were won as follow : — ANOTHER COVER MATCH. Another cover firing match "was fired at 200 yards ; ten shots per man, use of magazines prohibited. Each team fired at tho one target (head and shoulders) whenever it appeared.
