SWIMMING.
Two races were decided at Te Aro Baths last evening. The first, by the Wellington Swimming Club, was the 220 yds distance for the Missen Cup, and resulted as follows : H. Capper, 50sec, 1; F. Delaney, 62sec, 2; N. J. Gandy, 54sec, 3. Also started — CJ. Crawford, 7Osec; C. S. Kelly, 50sec; G. Saunders, 50sec; W. G. Morpeth, 50sec ; W. Turnbull, 42sec; P. J. Kivell, 40sec; J>. Jenkinson, 40sec ; B. O'Neill, 38sec ; zi. Watson, 38sec; C. Ward, 16sec; B. C. Freyberg, scr. Won easily. • Time, 3min 11 2-ssec. The other race was the first distance (100 yds) for the Crouch
Cup, of the V.M.C.A. Club, and aO excellent race was provided. The result was as follows : R. Baker 1, W. Chartres 2, G. P. Hanna 3. Also started — Parton, W. Wilson, J. Mawby, Time, lmin 20sec. Twelve competitors have entered for the mile championship of the Swifts Club, to be held at Te Aro Baths at 5.30 this evening. THORNDON CLUB. The Thorndon Club got off a 200 yds handicap last evening. Twelve competitors started, and a very eveii oace resulted as follows : V. L. Allan, 38scc, 1;-R. Nelson, 36sec, 2; F. "Roberts, 16sec, 3. Also started — A. W. Smith, 66sec ; R. Kennedy, SOsec, ; J. Nelson, 48sec; W. Bey, 46sec; D. M'Leod, 36sec; C. Brice, 30sec; G. Biuce, 24sec; R. Ronayne, lOsec ; and It. Healy, scr. Healy's time for the race was 2min 23sec — a very good performance. F. Roberts is now leading for the Ward Challenge Cup, he having scored 14 points. V. Allan comes next with 10, R> Healy has 9 points, and R* Ronayne 8.
