Tin— ln stock, 20,912 tons; on spot, 8685; afloat, 3815; deliveries, 2393. Silver is quoted at 23|d. LONDON MARKETS. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Industries and Comirerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, 27th February, 1909: — The mutton market is overstocked and depressed. Current quotations are as fol•low: — Canterbury, which is in small supply, 3£d ; North Island, which is in largo supply, 3^d ; River Plate, 2|d ; Australian, 2fd per lb. The lamb market is very dull, and supply exceeds tho demand. The weather lately lias been very unfavourable to tihe sale of lamb. This season's Canterbury is quoted at sid_; and other than Canterbury at s£d per lb j Australian, 4d ; Argentine, 3gd. Tho beef market, is weak, and there is less demand. Supplies of River Plate aro heavy. Current quotations are — New Zealand hindquarters, 3^d ; forequarters, 2gd per lb ; Danish beef is seljjng at a low price, down to 3£d per lb. Tho butteT market is dull on account of heavy arrivals. Choicest New Zealand butter is quoted at 106s ; Danish, 115s; Australian, 103s ; Argentine, 104s ; Siberian, 102s per cvrt. The cheese market is quiet, but holders are firm. There is no change in prices. Tho hemp market continues dull. Current quotations are as follow: — Good fair grado on spot, £24 ; fair grade on spot, £22 ss; fair current Manila on spot, £23 10s. March shipments — Good fair grade, £23 10a; fair grade, £22; fair current Manila, £22 ss. Last week's Manila output amounted to 28,000 bales. The wheat market, is active, with a good demand. Nominal quotations are: — New. Zealand long-berried wheat on spot, ex granary, per quarter of 4961b, 38s 6d ; short-berried wheat on spot, ox granary, per quarter of 4961b, 36s 6d. Oats. — Market quiet but firm. New Zealand bhort sparrowbill oats, ex granary, on spot, per quarter of 3841b, 245; New Zealand Danish oats, ex granary, on spot, per quarter of 3201b. 16s 6d. Beans.— Market firm, but demand only moderate. New Zealand beans, f.a.q. (old crop), per 5041b, 235. Peas. — Market, firm ; small supply. Partridge peae, per 5041b, 425. The wool market is strong; all* stocks aro advancing. The hop market is very quiet. The cocksfoot seed market is flat ; nothing whatever doing.
