NOMINATIONS. (BS TELEGSAPH- — PHE33 ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, Ist March. Fifteen candidates have been nominated for the Auckland City Licensing Election namely, Messrs. G. Aickin, W. J. Rees, P. C. Cheal, M. Casey, and A. Rosser (retiring committee) ; L. J. Bagnail, J. M. Menine, J. J. Holland, W. C. Somers, Dr. F. W. King (Citizens' League Ticket) ,- J» Janiieson, T. W. I Davies, W. Richardson, J. Patterson, and Mrs. Emily Nichol. The old committee are being supported by the Nolicense party, and it is understood that the "Trade" will support the Citizens' League Ticket. NEW PLYMOUTH, Ist March. An election . for the Taranaki Licensing Committee has been avoided, only the requisite number being nominated. ELTHAM, Ist March. The five candidates selected at a conference of the License and No-license parties have been returned unopposed for the Egmont Licensing Committee, thus avoiding the expense of a contest. WANGANUI, Ist March. The retiring Licensing Committee was re-elected, unopposed, to-day. GREYMOUTH, Ist March. Messrs. Bignell, Russell, Flynn, Kilgour, James. Scantlebury, Irving, and Mirfin were to-day nominated for the Licensing Committee. 1 CHRISTCHURCH, Ist March. For the Christchurch Licensing Bench the only persons nominated' were the nominees of the No-license party, and as only the required number were nominated, there will be no election, and the persons nominated will be declared elected. For Avon, Riccarton, and Lyttelton there will be elections. ASHBURTON, Ist March. The following nominations have been received for the Licensing Committee for the Ashburton electorate, which is under No-license : — Messrs. F. R. Flatman, T. E. Upton, B. R. Macdonald, F. R. Stubbs, F. H. Choat. As there are only five nominations, a poll will not be necessary. Although the electorate is under No-license, a committee is required to administer the Act until 30th June next, on account of six licensed houses existing in the Geraldine portion *of the electorate, which was added to Ashburton by the boundary commissioners. DUNEDIN, Ist March. Owing to Reduction having been carried at the local option polls in Dunedin City, Dunedin South, and Chalmers, keen interest is likely to be taken in the Licensing Committee elections next week. For Dunedin City the retiring committee (Messrs. Arkle, Braithwaite, Crust, Burnett, and Small) have been nominated, and also five candidates {Messrs. King, Calder, Wilkinson, Phillips, and Dr. Delautour) on behalf of the No-license party. In Dunedin South five candidates have been nominated by the No-license party, and also three independents. For Chalmers nine candidates are nominated. In Taieri a compromise fcas been arrived at, and no election will be necessary. CAE/TERTON, Ist March. The only nomination received for the Wairarapa Licensing Committee to-day was that of G. A. Fairbrother.
