It is generally known (says a contemporary) that the King of Portugal's health is in a precarious condition. Afe the usual animal court reception held on Ist January, tho King'-s paleness alarmed everyone present, and it was noticed that it was with groat difiiulty thai ho waß able to stand. The King's lungs are said to be seriously affected. The news has caused widespread alarm.
