Major-General Hoad, Inspector-General of th 3 military forces of the CommonAvealth, Avas granted a special private audience by King EdAvard. He discussed Avith the King matters having reference to the Australian forces. Major-General Hoad Avill remain in England for some time, and make himself acquainted Avith the latest military ideas. He is a native of NeAv South Wales, having been born at Goulburn in 1856. He seized in South Africa, Avas mentioned in despatches, anfi made aC.M.G.. After serving in various military capacities tn Australia, he, in 1907, succeeded Major ■* General Finn as head of the Commonwealth forces. He has filled staff appointments under some of the best generals in the British Army.
