CRICKET TEAM FOR ENGLAND. TERMS OF PAYMENT.
3y Telegraph.— Press Association. — Copyright. SYDNEY, 14th January. Eepresentatives of the players to-day met the Board of Cricket Control, and discussed the terms of payment to the members of the Australian eleven that is to visit England. Nothing was allowed to transpire of what was done. The difficulty which has arisen between the Board of Control for Austra Han cricket and the leading players has been tha subject of much discussion. The opinion in Melbourne is that the players, having come out into the open, the board has the whole matter in its own hands. The fact that the players recognise the board, and its right to take a percentage of the profits, has made matters much easier to settle, and it is hoped (remarked the Argus of recent date) the board will take the opportunity of settling the troubles which have disgusted cricketers by a temperate recognition of the position. "On all sides the feeling is expressed that the board can effectually establish itself by dealing with the appointment for a conference dispassionately and effectually. The whole of the cricket world will be delighted if a satisfactory settlement can bo effected. It is considered likely that the board will accept the suggestion made by "Observer" that it should take a player's dividend. That would satisfy the' players, and would make a good profit for the board." After a long, exhausting illness, when health is slow about returning, Steams' Wine is alwiiys found ot great value. By gently stimulating the appetite it aids nutrition and restores strength. — Advfe.
