CHRISTMAS TRAMS.
TO TEM EDITOB. Sir,— l quite acrree with "Ratepayer's" idea that trams should run on Christmas Day. I myself h:we several friends coming to me on Christmaß Day, and as I have no one to help mo. and we live Hi Nowtown, they. I suppose, must get hero jurffc a$ best they can. What about my husband? He is employed in an hotel, and works from 6 o'clock in the morning till 8.30 at night (Sundays included). He is also working till 2 o'clock on Christmas Day, and if he dous not do it there are hundreds who would. If the tramway employees cannot oblige the general public, there arc plenty only too willing to fill their places. ' I trust the City Council will see its way clear to run cars on that day and maku the foe 6d, or even Is per head to oblige the public— they will be only too pleased to pay that instead of heavy cab fares. — 1 am, etc., ANOTHER RATEPAYER.
