Litigation concerning a patent build" ing bracket was mentioned in the Supreme Court to-day, before Mr. Justice Demiistoii. Plaintiffs were the Humphries' Patent Bracket and Scaffold Company, Ltd., of Wellington, and tho defendants Butters, Hale and Company, carrying on business at Port Ahurin, Napier, engineers. It seemed that plaintiffs were the proprietors of a patent for a scaffolding bracket Known as the Humphries Patent Bracket. They claimed that the defendants had been making and selling brackets which were an infringement of the plaintiffs' patent, and in consequence of this cued for- an injunction against the. defendants, and £500 damages. The statement of defence denied the infringement, and claimed that the plaintiffs' letters patont were invalid, \ipon the ground that Humphries was not the true inventor, and that there was no novelty or public utility about his bracket, and that the specifications were badly constructed. Mr. Skerrett, K.C., with him Mr. Peacock, appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr. Young for tho defendants. Some discussion took place regarding an adjournment asked for by plaintiffs. Eventually Mr. Young «onsonted, on behalf of defendants, and the case was formally adjourned. The quarterly summoned meeting of the Loyal Antipodean Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., was heldr lastj night, Brother Schmidt, N.G., presiding over a large attendance. Officers for the ensuing term were elected, as follows: — N.G., Brother Hird ; V.G., Brother Duff; E. S., Brother Dentice.; auditor, Brother Ludwig ; lecture master, Brother Dormer ; registrar, Brother Dormer ; delegate to Dispensary Board, Brother Dormer. Nominations for district officers were received as follows: — G.M., Brother C. D. Robertson; D.P.Ci.M., Brother Ibbotson ; Prov. C.S., Brothers C. D. Robertson, and G. E. Godber ; examining and relieving officer, Brother Godber ; auditor, Brother W. Guise ; management committee, Brothers \V. Guise and H. Dormer. It was decided to hold a "sochil" in March next to commemorate the raxty-first anniversary of the lodge. It was resolved to place on record, the lodge's appreciation of the services rendered to trie district and order by Brother J.
